step 5

"Admitted to god, to ourselves and toanother human being the exact nature of our wrongs"

  1. I do believe in this step; it takes a lot of strength to admit to others (just not to yourself) that you have become an addict and need help-basically, admitting that you screwed up and that you need to hold yourself accountable, and pay the consequences (this is how I interpret this step).
I feel that individually, all the steps are interpreted differently, from one addict to the next. Holding MYSELF accountable and admitting to my loved ones what I had become, was sooooo hard, but at the same time, such a HUGE relief to get it OUT!

  2. exactly, as addicts we need to face the fact that the havoc we created was our own doing, we made choices, that led to our daownfall, stand up take responcability for that which you have done. With out playing the religion card, IF I were religous I honestly dont feel god would mind all that much if we as people started taking the blame and doing our part in correcting that which we have done. I mention to the god part for a simple reason, as i listen to addicts recovering or active I hear god is going to make it better alot. Guess what You are going to make it better, you through your actions, your desire to be whole again are going to make it better, if you need god as part of that regiman, more power to you but give yourself some credit as well.
