A lot of these steps revolve around religion... from what I hear is a huge turn off. Whether you subscribe to a religion or not I think (hope)no one thinks they are the best of the best Top dog of all dogs... that they have someone or something they feel they can look up to (what I see as a higher power). To trust someone so much to be able to count on them with your deepest darkest secrets is a huge plus. Addicts and those effected have lots of deep dark secrets that if not released cause more harm and stimmies recovery. But again ultimately sanity comes from the choices that powerful drive and motivation brings about.
